1000 Emirati Jobs in 2013 From Absher Initiative

A 1,000 Emirati graduates will be given jobs in the private sector this year, as part of the Absher Initiative with the Ministry of Presidential Affairs paying for their training, according to a memorandum of understanding signed yesterday between officials at the ministry and a group of 25 privately owned establishments.

The ministry will ensure that the graduates have a sufficient period of training and will pay for the cost of training, according to Nasser Thani Juma Al Hameli, assistant undersecretary of the technical office at the ministry.

Graduates will be trained for almost eight months in different organisations and the ministry will bear the cost of 30 per cent of their total salary,” Al Hameli explained. The move is one element of a multi-tasked programme tagged Absher to help Emiratis find jobs in the private sector.

The UAE is seen as the fourth most attractive education destination in the world for students seeking to pursue their studies abroad, and the most attractive education destination among emerging market economies – beating the likes of China, Singapore and Australia. Look smart and you might get the job, says Dubai Employer poll

Does it really matter how you dress for an interview? According to a recent poll conducted by Middle East job site Bayt.com, it might matter more than you think.

Results from the survey suggest looking good might help you climb the career ladder.

More than 75% of employers and employees think looking the part will have a major impact on the success of a job interview, with 76.4 per cent of poll respondents believing employers make a decision based on a candidate’s physical appearance.

According to more than a quarter of those polled (27.5 per cent), good personal grooming and style shows an interest in the position on offer.
