Findings Revealed In Most Comprehensive Spotlight On Region’s Social Media Trends Yet

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – March 21, 2013 – Social media can have a dramatic impact on job hunting and entrepreneurship in the MENA region, according to a ground-breaking study by Dubai School of Government’s Governance and Innovation Program and SAP.

Focusing on Arab youth, the most extensive survey of its kind ever conducted found that 70 per cent of respondents believed social media can help youth find jobs. 75 per cent of viewed it as an essential channel to the virtual job market and 76 per cent hailed its networking capabilities. Furthermore, 84 per cent stated they could garner entrepreneurial skills by being social media-savvy.

UAE is the Happiest Gulf Country

The UAE has been ranked as the happiest place in the Arabian Gulf, according to a report published by the United Nations last year.

The First World Happiness Report, launched earlier this week, placed the nation in 17th on a global basis, making it the second happiest country in the Middle East behind Israel.

Residents in the Gulf-state proved to be more satisfied with their lives than those living in places such as the UK, Germany and Hong Kong.

Neighbouring Gulf states Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, ranked in as the 26th, 29th and 31st happiest places in the world, respectively.

Factors that go towards a country’s happiness rating include its overall wealth and its mood, social relations and healthcare.
