Hospitality, Tourism and Travel Jobs in Dubai

Dubai is Known as an Exotic Destination
Using its revenues from oil, Dubai has transformed its landscape into one of the most attractive tourism attractions. Its hotels and various other attractions draw millions of travelers each year. In 2008, Dubai was the most attractive market for investors in the hospitality sector. Also, last year, Dubai hotels welcomed 7.5 million guests. Given the globally weak performance of the industry, this increase of 8.3% from 2007 and the 9.2% increase in guest-nights to 22.4 million show how resilient and profitable Dubai’s hospitality and tourism sector is. What’s more, UAE currently has $6.1 billion in new hotel investments with 61 hotel properties being scheduled to open by the end of next year. Many of these will be located in Dubai. This year alone some 22 hotels will be completed and another 13 will open next year. This will create thousands of new hotel rooms and jobs to service the large number of global tourists visiting the city every year.
There are several factors that will help ensure a bright, long term future for Dubai’s hospitality and tourism industry, such as the city’s favorable location, growing importance as an airport hub, and the large size of investments in the sector. A sustained growth in the industry will create numerous job openings. In addition to managerial and general office jobs, these will include many service jobs for cleaning workers, janitors, cooks, waiters and waitresses, bartenders, counter workers, and other kitchen and dining room staff. The industry will also employ many baggage porters and bellhops and grounds maintenance workers. The industry usually tends to offer many employment opportunities for young workers and first-time job holders in part-time and seasonal jobs.
