Salaries in Dubai – How To Predict Your Dubai Salary

One of the most asked questions I face is: how much am I going to be paid in Dubai? Even though the answer can vary greatly, you can still actually come up with a reasonable approximation of how much you are going to be paid in Dubai by following the methods that are outlined here.

To plan your life in Dubai safely and accurately, you need to align your expectations with reality. That’s why you need accurate approximation of your salary. To get that, you’re going to have to do some research of your own.

You can do your Dubai salary research online or offline or both. I will provide you with the information you need and will tell you about the benefits of each, and it is up to you to choose.

Question: what can you do online to find out your expected Dubai salary?

Answer:

  1. Check out the listings of Dubai recruitment agencies
  2. Check out Dubai job sites
  3. Use Dubai salary calculators
  4. Read Bayt’s salary survey reports

I will take you through each one of the bulletpoints above…So let’s start…

Online Investigation

Check out the listings of Dubai recruitment agencies

There are dozens of recruitment agencies in Dubai. However, only a few of them have fully maintained and up to date websites that provide salary information. Here are the three recruitment agencies that have listings I recommend you check for salaries:

  1. Jobtrack Middle East – https://www.jobtrackme.com
  2. BAC Middle East – https://bacme.com
  3. Nadia Middle East – https://nadia-me.com

For more, check out the the recruitment agency listing in Dubai Career’s Directory.

Even though the websites above don’t have the most user-friendly design and navigation, they do have rich listings that may give you valuable insight into Dubai salaries. Be aware, however, that some of these salaries are inflated to attract applicants or intended for IDEAL candidates.

Check out Dubai job sites

Another or additional way to measure your expected Dubai salary is to check out the listings on Dubai job sites. Some employers indicate a salary range in their job postings.

Just like with recruitment agencies, there are dozens of job sites in Dubai. Here are two that you can start with:

  1. Bayt.com – https://www.bayt.com
  2. NaukriGulf – https://naukrigulf.com

For more, check out the the job sites listing in Dubai Career’s Directory.

Do a search for your desired position on those sites, and see if there are postings that indicate a salary range.

Use Dubai salary calculators

A third way to investigate your expected Dubai salary online is to use Dubai salary calculators (which are based on salary surveys).

The seemingly most comprehensive salary calculator for Dubai and the one that I would recommend is PayScale’s.

Offline Investigation

There are several reasons why you might want to do offline salary research, such as:

  1. All of the above online methods didn’t provide enough information for your specific case
  2. You want to confirm your online findings
  3. The online research may take longer than this quick offline investigation

By offline investigation, what I really mean is that you call up a recruitment agency, tell them about your skills and experience, and ask them about the average salary for a profile like yours. It’s easy, quick and effective! I have done it a couple of times.

The most friendly recruitment agency I dealt with is IQ Selection. I recommend that you call them first. Their phone number is: +971 4 329 7770. Make sure that you ask for the recruiter who specializes in your specific industry.

As always, confirm your answers by calling a few other recruitment agents. You can find their phone numbers in my recruitment agencies list.

Now this kind of salary research should be enough to give you a pretty good idea of what you should expect to be paid in Dubai, so that you can plan safely and accurately!

  3. I don’t agree with the previous comment
5 years experience is quite good one. I believe you can find a job easily but the question is what salary, when you are new in a place like Dubai you always get as worse as possible, but definitely you can get one. You need to come yourself no one can land you a job from distance unless the job is very bad one

  36. justtohelp says:

    Hi KT,

Please note that I am replying just because you need an answer soon, I am new to Dubai but I have understood a little bit of the employment situations here.here is what I have to tell you (entirely my personal thought)

If you are getting aprox Rs85,000 per month in India, getting 15,000 AED will never come close to it. (i used to earn 35,000 INR and now I get 13,000 AED)Trust me waht you are getting in India is supergood compared to this and you wife is working in TCS too (im sure she is getting paid really well too). I would suggest unless you get something more than 20,000AED and you wife gets something near 9000AED you should not choose to come here. And please understand a truth, : its always better to be in your native land when you can get the best there.

Hope this helps you in some way!

    • Hello Justtohelp, I appreciate your help. But what about the good life and exposure up there at Dubai?. Initially for six months I shall travel alone and definitely would never prefer to bring my wife here unless I find some decent job for her.
Will I be able to save something?.
What are the stay and travel charges there?.
Is 15000 AED a respectable score?.
How soon can my wife get a job there?.
How quickly can I get a driving license in Dubai?.
Meanwhile being in petrochemical field I presume that I would be able to make a good future and career in UAE.
What is your take on this. I hope I am not bothering u guyz with so many questions. But believe me, replies to these queries shall be the utmost help to me, as my interview is on this saturday. I express my gratitude towards the deep interest shown in my case. Thnx for your suggestions in advance.

  37. justtohelp says:

    KT,

Of course you will get an international exposure at Dubai. The growth is unlimited here.

If you are staying alone still you can save a ‘not bad’ amount (when converted to INR), but when it comes to stay with a family it is even expensive, obviously. A normal Descent family accommodation will cost you between 3500-5000 AED (which depends on the locations/number of rooms etc.)

15000 AED is a respectable score, but again for a person who was earning almost 1/2 of that amount in India; it is less coz majority people look for at least 5 x hikes as compared to India. Since you said this Saturday is your interview, why don’t you bring this to their notice and tell them you want 20,000AED (try negotiating)

Getting a job for a smart and talented person is not that difficult in Dubai, but to get the right job is the challenge…Once you are settled in Dubai and when you bring your wife (she will be on your Visa) she can patiently search for an appropriate job. It might take 2-3 months to get the right one. Please note that all that counts here is GCC/western work experience.

You need appropriate papers from your company to apply for a Driving license. You need to certain number of compulsory classes and if you are really good and really lucky, you will get it in the first shot (within 2-3 months), it might take you 4-6 times of driving test to pass out. And this whole process can cost around 6000 AED (depends on the driving school etc.)

Of course, you can grow very well, being in petrochemical field, but make sure you get a good start.
    All the best!

  38. wow justtohelp, u really are a great help….Thnx man (or woman whoever u r:-))..nope!! these guyz have fixed the upper limit of 15000, it can be a couple of bucks here & there (maybe 500+ or-)….I dont know, maybe when I come there I might swicth my job in another 1 year or so..Hey dude! what are the travelling, fooding & Boozing charges up there…is it pretty expensive??….will it be covered in 3000 AED..can I get an studio apartment (something like that?)…If I try saving 8000 AED an moth shall I suffocate to death huh?? answer me pal!!…u see bro’I actually have an offer from an Austrian company based at Purwakarta, Indonesia. For me this is a choice between tweedledee & Tweedledum..In Indonesia I get accomodation etc, however I sacrifice my wife’s career:-(…& she wont mind leaving me for that:-)…
Listen man!!I dont know if I am asking for too much by this post, but thnx for the above two posts..U rock!!
